Although the village of New Albany has been in existence since 1837, the area today has changed dramatically from the town that existed here even ten years ago.
Today it is dominated by a large and growing planned community, which was the dream of "The Limited" Stores founder, Les Wexner. Set amid farmland and horse pastures, this upscale community is known for its signature Georgian architecture and forty miles of white fencing.
In the center is the New Albany Country Club, which features a 27-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, 2 Olympic-sized swimming pools, 16 tennis courts, a croquet course and an extensive fitness center. Social memberships to the Country Club are limited to residents of the New Albany Country Club development; golf memberships are open to Hamstead Village residents, as well.
The development has been designed to include an abundance of green space and is connected by 12 miles of leisure trails.
A spectacular new "Learning Community" campus has been completed, which includes a middle school and high school, as well as a health and wellness center.
The health and wellness center, which is staffed with three primary care physicians, offers health care for the whole family as well as community health programs, exercise classes and daycare for more than 120 children.
Homes in the Country Club development range from $350,000 to several million dollars. In the more moderately priced Hamstead Village development, the price range is $190,000 to $325,000. |
