Just north of the Columbus Metropolitan area, this wide open region once made up of farms is now a rapidly growing residential community serving the city of Columbus. Rolling farmland has been transformed into neighborhoods with names like "The Retreat", "The Chase", "Loch Lomond", "Sherbourne Mews", "Bartholomew Run", "Olentangy Ridge" and "Wedgewood", an exclusive country club development. Residents enjoy the country atmosphere and the easy commute to the business districts of Columbus.
In the midst of it all is the quaint village of Powell, with a charming old business district full of antique stores and specialty shops. New shopping centers are springing up to serve the growing number of families moving into the area.
Although some subdivisions of Southern Delaware County attend the Dublin , Buckeye Valley and Big Walnut School systems, the remainder -- and majority -- are served by the Olentangy Local Schools. At present, this growing district has 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school .
Southern Delaware County is home to the Columbus Zoo, the popular Wyandotte Lake (a water park attraction), and the Olentangy Indian Caverns, as well as several large parks and golf courses.
The mostly single-family homes in Southern Delaware County are priced within the $150,000 to $1,000,000 range.
