The communities in this part of the city are many and varied.
Between the Ohio State University campus area and the town of Worthington are the established villages of Clintonville and Beechwold. Tree-lined streets, older homes with character and individuality and the proximity to Ohio State anddowntown Columbus make these communities popular with young families, university faculty and empty nesters who enjoy a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Other areas such as Indian Hills, Sycamore Hills and The Knolls offer a more suburban-type of setting with larger lots, curving streets and comfortable homes. Northern Columbus also features a considerable selection of condominium and "patio home" communities for those seeking to avoid yard work and enjoy the amenities often provided.
These communities are all served by the Columbus Public School System, as well as several highly regarded parochial and private schools. The population of the Columbus Public Schools is large and diverse, as are the programs offered to its students. In addition to the traditional schools, there are 33 alternative schools offering students the opportunity to concentrate on special interests such as science, the arts and foreign language immersion.
Residents of these communities have access to numerous parks and recreational facilities, including Antrim Lake and the famous "Park of Roses", as well as the well-traveled Olentangy-Lower Scioto Bikeway. Shopping, theaters and cultural and sporting events are all within close range.
Home-buyers will find this area to offer excellent values, with homes priced in the $60,000-300,000 range. Taxes are among the lowest in the Columbus North region.
